My home is under construction. Can I still prewire my house?
If your sheetrock is already up, forget about it. The mess, liability, and exuberant cost far outweigh any benefits a hardwired system would provide. Our advice in that case: Go wireless!
Is wireless worth it?
There are terrific wireless systems with contacts that can be installed to recess inside the door and micro contacts that are so small that they become almost camouflaged on a typical window. The battery life in these small sensors can exceed 5 years on a single lithium battery. This is a very good option.
When should I prewire the house?
There is a moment in the construction phase of your house when all the windows have been installed and the electrical contractors have come through and run the electrical wire, that creates the perfect window of opportunity for the low voltage installers to run wire for the alarm system as well as other devices, such as cameras, home theatre, Wi-Fi Routers, etc.
What does a prewire installation entail?
There are two phases to completing the prewired house: Phase 1 is the wire run installation (as is mentioned in Step 3) and Phase 2 is the installation of the alarm equipment after the house is finished. We are the last contractor to add that finishing touch. The home is now protected. You, the homeowner can now move in.
